Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join our technology team in Petaling Jaya. You will design, build, and maintain scalable web and enterprise applications, collaborating with product managers, designers, and senior developers to deliver high-quality code.

The role requires at least 3 years of hands-on development experience and a strong backend skill set (Node.js/TypeScript, Java/Spring Boot, C#/.NET or Python).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Malaysia (Malaysian Citizen / Permanent Resident / valid work permit).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and deploy clean, scalable software applications throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Refactor and optimize existing systems for maximum speed, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA teams to refine specifications, user stories, and technical requirements.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices to integrate internal and third-party systems.
• Participate in peer code reviews, write automated unit/integration tests, and enforce best engineering practices.
• Identify, debug, and resolve complex performance bottlenecks or production issues as they arise.

Requirements

• Core Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Status: Must be legally eligible to work in Malaysia (Malaysian Citizen / Permanent Resident / valid work permit).
• Technical Skills
• Backend Proficiency: Strong experience in modern backend technology stack (e.g., Node.js/TypeScript, Java/Spring Boot, C#/.NET, or Python).
• Database Management: Working knowledge of relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis).
• Version Control & DevOps: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and basic cloud platform services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Architecture: Familiarity with RESTful APIs, MVC architecture, and microservice design patterns.
• Soft Skills
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English (Bahasa Malaysia is a plus).
