Job summary

China Construction Bank in Malaysia seeks a Junior Software Engineer to develop and maintain internal data-driven applications, business systems, tools and dashboards. You will work with stakeholders to understand operational needs and manage databases across the software lifecycle.

The role requires a degree in CS/IT/SE or related field, and hands-on experience with SQL and at least one language such as Python or Java. A solid understanding of security controls is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java or equivalent programming languages.
• Basic understanding of enterprise security technologies and controls, including SIEM, PAM, vulnerability scanning, security monitoring, and IT audit controls.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with a process-and solution-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal data-driven applications, business systems, tools, and dashboards
• Design and develop applications from the ground up based on business requirements
• Develop application functionalities, data-processing logic, database queries, reports, and user interfaces
• Work directly with business users and stakeholders to understand business processes and operational requirements
• Translate business requirements and business terminology into clear functional and technical requirements
• Design basic database structures, tables, relationships, views, and queries
• Write and optimize SQL queries for application and reporting purposes
• Perform data validation, data cleansing, and data troubleshooting
• Follow established SDLC practices throughout the application lifecycle
• Work with IT security and infrastructure teams to address security findings and ensure applications comply with security requirements
