Job summary

INVENTEC APPLIANCES (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking an SMT Inspection Engineer to optimise and maintain our SMT processes. You will operate AOI, SPI, and X-ray equipment, inspect PCBA assemblies, and drive continuous improvement through CAPA and data analysis.

You will have a diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering and 1–3 years in SMT/PCBA manufacturing or quality control. Proficiency with IPC-A-610, Six Sigma, and Lean methods is expected.

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
1–3 years of SMT/PCBA manufacturing or quality control experience.
In-depth knowledge of SMT processes (paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow).
Proficiency with SMT inspection equipment (AOI, SPI, X-ray).
Familiarity with IPC-A-610, Six Sigma, Lean, SPC and ability to read engineering drawings/BOMs.

Responsibilities

Perform visual inspections and operate AOI, SPI, and X-ray machines to detect defects in PCBAs.
Identify defects such as misaligned components, missing parts, polarity issues, and solder defects.
Conduct first article inspections during NPI and line changeovers to verify setup before mass production.
Monitor SMT production quality and ensure compliance with standards.
Analyze defect data and perform root cause analysis for recurring issues.
Implement CAPA to improve yield and quality.
Collaborate with production, process, and design teams to optimize SMT processes.
