Flex is seeking an SMT Equipment Engineer in Prai, Penang to support the maintenance and calibration of SMT machinery, including pick-and-place and reflow systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate equipment, and work with process engineers on upgrades and test plans to sustain peak manufacturing performance.

Typically you will have an associate degree or military training with about four years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an associate degree in a related field, military technical training, or equivalent education and training.
• Typically requires 4 years of related experience.
• Preferable knowledge and experience with SMT pick-and-place ASM machines.
• Ability to develop SMT programming is a plus.
• Must be able to perform daily troubleshooting in SMT line, including SMT solder printing, pick-and-place, and reflow oven processes.
• Must have knowledge of root cause analysis and a strong drive for continuous improvement.

Responsabilités

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and isolate the failure mechanism.
• Repair the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assist process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Research and implement corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.
• Record times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provide daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Set up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate instruments.
• Disassemble instruments and equipment and inspect components for defects.
• Align repairs, replace components, and balance circuitry.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assist engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors' locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.
• Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a SMT Equipment Engineer located in Prai, Penang.

Mechanical: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems and production machines and equipment.

Electrical: Maintains and troubleshoots in-circuit and functional testers, associated test fixtures, stress chambers and chamber racks to ensure manufacturing test equipment is on-line.

What a typical day looks like:

Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.

Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.

Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.

Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.

Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.

Researches and implements corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.

Records times and problems in equipment logs.

Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.

Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.

Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.

Aligns repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.

Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.

Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.

May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors' locations.

Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Specialized Job:

Allocating work to a team of fitters.

Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.

Fitting new parts.

Carrying out quality inspections.

Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.

Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.

Keeping production managers informed of progress.

Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.

Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
