Job summary

Flex is seeking a Test Engineering Manager / Assistant Manager in Prai, Penang, to lead the testing strategy for high-technology electronics. You will guide the test engineering team, optimize test procedures, and coordinate cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality product releases.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with about 8 years in test engineering, plus experience with test automation and ATE development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years in Test Engineering including functional, burn-in, and automated testing.
• Familiarity with hardware/software test development and test automation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate testing activities for electronic products and software.
• Define test conditions, sequences, and phases for tests.
• Coordinate calibration of instruments and data recording systems.
• Advise on test strategy improvements and risk management.
• Develop or use software/hardware tools to perform tests.
• Train staff on test hardware/software and problem-solving techniques.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Test Engineering Manager / Assistant Manager located in Prai, Penang.

Responsiblefor managing the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of testing procedures, strategies, systems, components, and modifications. Acts as an advisor to test engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations and acts as a liaison to other engineering functions. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.

What a typical day looks like:

• Directs and/or coordinates electronic engineering and/or technical personnel in fabrication and design of testing and test control apparatus and equipment, or software and systems testing.
• Directs and coordinates electronic engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required to test, telemeter and record test data.
• Defines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
• Interfaces and confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, data interpretation or coding issues.
• Evaluates and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by electronic or software engineering, and management personnel.
• Develops or uses computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems or software.
• Trains and instructs floor support, test technicians and test operators on test hardware and/or software, as well as proper problem-solving techniques.
• Resolves test yield problems by performing evaluation of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements.
• Coordinates all activities and all testers during each testing phase of a project or program.
• Maintains awareness of testing alternativesata level where they can be analyzed and the most effective testing strategy selected and agreed.
• Assesses and advises on the practicality of testing process alternatives.
• Identifies improvements to the process and assists in their implementation.
• Ensures that any risks associated with the agreed test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the clients/users and colleagues.
• Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
• Plans, arranges, and controls meetings, workshops and relations with client/user staff during test planning and throughout subsequent development and testing activities.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in Test Engineering, including functional testing, burn-in testing, and automated testing in high-technology electronics industry or a related industry.
• Knowledge of hardware and software test development and test automation is preferred.
• Familiarity with NPI test setup and ATE (Automated Test Equipment) development is preferred.
• Experience in automation or API development for test process improvement is preferred.
