Job summary

The American Embassy Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Gardener to perform landscaping and grounds maintenance at mission facilities and residences as directed. The role requires physical work, uses manual and motorized tools, and supports safety practices.

Responsibilities include soil prep, planting, pruning, lawn care, debris control, and assisting with event setup as needed, while following safety rules and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of primary school is required.
• Experience: For Grade 1 is: A minimum of one (1) year of gardening experience is required; For Grade 2 is: A minimum of two (2) years of gardening experience is required.
• Language: Level 1 (Rudimentary) Speaking/ Reading/ Writing in English and Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Bahasa Malaysia (this may be tested).

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, and participates in gardening work as assigned including soil preparation, planting, pruning, and maintaining trees, shrubs, and lawns.
• Maintains and operates gardening tools and motorized equipment; ensures equipment is in good working order.
• Keeps walkways and green spaces free of debris and hazards; assists with event setup and other duties as required.
• Escorts visitors and may direct laborers to assist as needed.
