Job summary

The Ship Manager role at CMA CGM is central to our operations, ensuring smooth vessel voyages through careful loading plans and strict policy adherence. You’ll coordinate with sea and shore teams to optimise stowage, ballast, and port calls while controlling costs and safety compliance.

This position requires a postgraduate maritime education and on-board containership experience, with strong English skills and a thorough understanding of DG, SOLAS and ISM regulations.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate maritime degree from a national maritime school.
• Deck officer experience on-board containerships.
• Experience in logistics/transport/supply chain and port/terminal operations.
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods (DG) Regulations.
• Familiar with SOLAS, ISM and related safety standards.
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Upholding high standards of stowage planning to maximise vessel utilization.
• Manage end-to-end stowage for a containership with stakeholders.
• Monitor dangerous cargo, reefers, OOG per regulations.
• Evaluate Changes of Destination (COD) as requested by sales/logistics.
• Liaise with Logistics to optimize empty container repositioning.
• Collaborate with operations to maintain schedule and reduce bunker costs.
• Report vessel utilization, ballast, restows and key stowage metrics.
• Develop statistics and monitor bunker consumption.
