Job summary

YTL DC SOUTH SDN. BHD. in Kulai, Johor, Malaysia is seeking a shift operations professional to manage data centre activities during their shift, ensuring uninterrupted performance and safe handovers.

You will respond to incidents, coordinate maintenance, and work with Electrical, Mechanical and ELV teams, requiring a 24/7 rotation and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years in data centre or critical environment.
• Strong knowledge of UPS, generators, HVAC, HV/LV electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all operational activities and system performance during the shift to ensure uninterrupted data centre operations.
• Conduct thorough shift handovers, communicating ongoing activities, system conditions, alarms, and pending maintenance.
• Act as first responder and decision-maker for incidents, faults, or alarms during the shift.
• Ensure maintenance, testing, and operations are carried out under PTW, MOP and risk assessments.
• Lead on-shift engineers to perform operational checks, system monitoring, and procedure execution with accuracy.
• Continuously monitor critical power, cooling and environmental systems via digital and physical inspection.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical and ELV teams to resolve issues efficiently.

• Act as the first responder and decision-maker for any incidents, faults, or alarms during the shift
• Ensure all maintenance, testing, and operational activities are carried out under valid PTW, MOP, and risk assessments
• Lead and guide on-shift engineers to perform operational checks, system monitoring, and procedure execution with accuracy
• Continuously monitor all critical power, cooling, and environmental systems through digital and physical inspection
• Collaborate closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and ELV teams to resolve operational issues efficiently

Qualifications & Experiences

• Bachelor or Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical or equivalent
• A minimum of 2 years of working experience in a data centre or critical environment
• Strong knowledge of UPS systems, generators, HVAC cooling systems, and HV/LV electrical systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint intermediate level
• Leadership skills to manage shift technicians/engineers
• Excellent communication skills (English and local language) in both written and verbal
• Ability to work in a 24/7 rotating shift model
