Job summary

Schott Glass (M) Sdn Bhd in Kulim, Kedah, is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to oversee shift-to-shift operations, support maintenance, and minimize downtime. You will monitor equipment performance, participate in OEE improvement initiatives, troubleshoot at first level, and ensure compliance with EHS standards.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Engineering and at least 3 years in manufacturing, semiconductor, or optical industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Process/Manufacturing or related field).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, or optical industry.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts (4 days, 0700-1900, 1900-0700).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shift-to-shift production operations for efficiency and continuity.
• Support engineering and maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
• Identify operational issues during shifts and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to support production execution.
• Monitor and improve equipment performance, including OEE improvement initiatives.
• Perform first-level troubleshooting of machines and processes.
• Support routine maintenance planning and execution (AM check sheets).
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures and manage OCAP (out of control actions).
• Manage process deviations and develop action plans during shifts.
• Dispositional decisions on lots and ongoing process monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards.

Job description

Ensure efficient and smooth shift-to-shift production operations .

Support engineering and maintenance activities to minimize downtime .

Identify operational issues during shifts and recommend corrective actions .

Work closely with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering) to support production execution .

Monitor and improve equipment performance, including OEE improvement initiatives .

Perform first-level troubleshooting of machines and processes .

Support routine maintenance planning and execution (AM check sheets).

Ensure compliance with operational procedures and escape “out of control” situations (OCAP) .

Manage process deviations and develop action plans during shifts .

Responsible for lot disposition decisions and process monitoring.

Ensure compliance with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards

Your Profile:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Process / Manufacturing or related fields) .
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, or optical industry .
• Willing to work on rotating shifts (4 days, 0700-1900, 1900-0700)
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering practices.
• Basic knowledge of project management and statistical analysis tools .
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills .
• Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Highly motivated, results-driven, and able to work under pressure .
• Knowledge or interest in optical components is an added advantage
• Able to respond to production issues during assigned shift hours and Willing to support overtime when required
