Job summary

Trane Technologies in Malaysia is hiring for a senior HVAC technician/ supervisor to lead maintenance for data centre cooling systems. You will oversee technicians, coordinate corrective and preventive tasks, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in engineering, 5+ years in HVAC, and strong client-facing communication. Based in Johor Bahru, you will support regional operations and respond to after-hours needs as required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years HVAC experience, preferably in data centres or mission-critical cooling.
• Strong technical expertise in chillers, CRAC/CRAH units,HVAC controls and cooling optimization.
• Experience engaging with data centre customers and managing expectations.
• Willingness to work long hours including after-hours when required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer-handling skills.
• Based in Johor Bahru and able to support regional operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support, servicing, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including data centre cooling.
• Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance for chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers.
• Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, commissioning, and performance optimization.
• Lead and supervise technicians or subcontractors to ensure timely, quality completion.
• Coordinate with data centre customers on schedules, updates and issues.
• Support planning, documentation, and reporting for maintenance activities.
• Liaise with vendors and contractors for job coordination and sourcing.
• Adhere to EHS standards and internal quality requirements.
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs; willing to work extended hours as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Where Is The Work

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support, servicing, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including data centre cooling solutions and mission-critical equipment.
• Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance for chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers, and associated HVAC infrastructure.
• Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, commissioning, and performance optimization for HVAC and data centre cooling systems.
• Lead and supervise technicians or subcontractors to ensure timely and quality completion of assigned tasks.
• Communicate with data centre customers to coordinate work schedules, address concerns, provide updates, and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Support planning, documentation, and reporting for maintenance schedules and operational activities.
• Work closely with vendors and contractors for job coordination and materials sourcing.
• Ensure all work follows relevant EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards and internal quality requirements.
• Respond to urgent or unplanned maintenance needs; willingness to work extended or irregular hours as required by data centre operations.
• Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience, preferably supporting data centre operations or mission-critical cooling systems.
• Strong technical expertise in chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, HVAC system controls, and cooling optimization.
• Experience engaging with data centre customers and managing customer expectations in a high-demand environment.
• Willingness to work long hours, including after-hours support when required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-handling skills.
• Positive attitude, good teamwork, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Based in Johor Bahru and able to support regional operations as needed.
