Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a senior HVAC technician to support data centre operations. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and optimization of chillers and CRAC/CRAH systems on-site in Malaysia.

The role requires 5+ years in HVAC, strong customer-facing skills, and the ability to lead technicians while coordinating with vendors and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience, preferably in data centres or mission-critical cooling.
• Strong expertise in chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, HVAC controls and cooling optimization.
• Experience engaging with data centre customers and managing expectations.
• Willingness to work long hours and after-hours support when required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer-handling skills.
• Based in Johor Bahru & Shah Alam with ability to support regional operations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance for chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, towers.
• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, commissioning and performance optimization.
• Lead and supervise technicians or subcontractors for timely, quality completion.
• Communicate with data centre customers to coordinate schedules and updates.
• Support planning, documentation, and reporting for maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for job coordination and sourcing.
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards and internal quality requirements.
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs; willing to work extended hours as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Where Is The Work

On-Site (5 days)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support, servicing, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including data centre cooling solutions and mission-critical equipment.
• Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance for chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers, and associated HVAC infrastructure.
• Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, commissioning, and performance optimization for HVAC and data centre cooling systems.
• Lead and supervise technicians or subcontractors to ensure timely and quality completion of assigned tasks.
• Communicate with data centre customers to coordinate work schedules, address concerns, provide updates, and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Support planning, documentation, and reporting for maintenance schedules and operational activities.
• Work closely with vendors and contractors for job coordination and materials sourcing.
• Ensure all work follows relevant EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards and internal quality requirements.
• Respond to urgent or unplanned maintenance needs; willingness to work extended or irregular hours as required by data centre operations.
• Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience, preferably supporting data centre operations or mission-critical cooling systems.
• Strong technical expertise in chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, HVAC system controls, and cooling optimization.
• Experience engaging with data centre customers and managing customer expectations in a high-demand environment.
• Willingness to work long hours, including after-hours support when required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-handling skills.
• Positive attitude, good teamwork, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Based in Johor Bahru & Shah Alam and able to support regional operations as needed.
