Job summary

RVQ Automation Sdn Bhd, based in Johor Bahru, seeks a seasoned Service Operations Leader to drive daily service delivery, set SOPs and KPIs, and manage installation, calibration, and repairs across water quality and instrumentation projects.

You will recruit and coach engineers, develop training plans, and oversee a calibration lab compliant with ISO 17025. Travel and cross-functional collaboration are expected to support growth and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
• Postgrad qualification or PMP is an advantage.
• ISO 17025 or metrology training is highly desirable.
• Minimum 7 years in technical service, at least 3 years in supervisory/managerial role.
• Experience managing service teams and accounts in instrumentation or water treatment.
• Calibration lab setup or ISO 17025 accreditation experience preferred.
• Experience in TNA and technical training.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily service operations; set SOPs, quality standards and KPIs.

• Manage department budget (CAPEX/OPEX); track costs and profitability; report variances.
• Report to management; ensure compliance with ST, OSHA, CIDB, SPAN, FDA and ISO 17025.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations; drive process improvement and digitalisation.

Job description

Industry: Water quality, instrumentation and water treatment
Reports to: Operational Manager and Managing Director

Key Responsibilities

Service operations: Lead daily service delivery, set SOPs and quality standards, monitor KPIs, schedule engineers and technicians to meet SLAs, and oversee installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration and repairs.

Team leadership: Recruit, coach and appraise Service Engineers and Technicians, set performance goals, and plan workforce and leave.

Staff training: Run Training Needs Analysis, build the training plan and calendar, keep competency and certification records, and develop succession plans.

Customer training: Deliver or oversee end-user training, develop training materials, certify operator competency, and include training packages in service contracts.

Calibration lab (ISO/IEC 17025): Build and manage the in-house calibration facility, including the QMS, documentation, traceability to SIRIM, internal audits, proficiency testing and liaison with accreditation bodies (SAMM).

Customer relations: Handle escalations and root cause analysis, conduct customer visits and satisfaction surveys, and keep customers long term.

Strategy and business development: Prepare the annual service plan, grow service contracts and calibration services, support tenders and proposals, and attend exhibitions, FATs and client meetings.

Budget and finance: Manage the department budget (including calibration CAPEX/OPEX and training), track costs and contract profitability, and report variances.

Reporting and compliance: Report to management, ensure compliance with ST, OSHA, CIDB, SPAN, FDA and ISO 17025, and keep service and calibration records.

Collaboration and improvement: Work with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations, and drive process improvement and digitalisation.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

A postgraduate qualification or PMP is an advantage.

ISO 17025 or metrology training is highly desirable.

Experience:

At least 7 years of technical service experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Experience managing service teams and accounts in instrumentation or water treatment.

Calibration lab setup or ISO 17025 accreditation experience is strongly preferred.

Experience in TNA and technical training.

Technical skills:

Microsoft Office and MS Project.

AutoCAD or similar software.

CMMS or ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle).

ISO 17025, measurement uncertainty and traceability.

Water quality parameters (pH, DO, turbidity, conductivity), analytical instruments and process control.

Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills.

Able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.

Detail-oriented.

Valid driving licence and willingness to travel.
