Job summary

Henry Wong Consulting is a Melbourne-based SEO and AI search consultancy seeking an experienced SEO specialist to lead a Malaysia-based team. You will own day-to-day delivery, shape client strategies and oversee a two-person delivery squad.

You will collaborate directly with founder Henry Wong to identify growth opportunities, turn insights into actionable tasks and drive results across ecommerce, B2B SaaS and other sectors.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on SEO experience with demonstrable results.
• Strong technical SEO, on-page optimization, keyword research and content planning skills.
• Experience guiding or coordinating other team members.
• Familiarity with Ahrefs, Google Search Console, GA4 and Screaming Frog.
• Experience with WordPress or Shopify CMS.

Responsibilities

Job description

Henry Wong Consulting is a Melbourne-based SEO and AI search consultancy working with Australian businesses across ecommerce, B2B SaaS and other competitive industries.

We help businesses grow their visibility across Google and AI search platforms, including ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.

We’re a small, hands-on team focused on getting results. We use clear SEO strategies, live task boards and reporting dashboards to keep our work organised and transparent. We’re growing and looking for an experienced SEO specialist ready to step into team leadership.

About the role

You’ll own day-to-day SEO delivery across our client accounts and lead a small Malaysia-based team: an onsite SEO specialist and a content writer. You’ll make sure each client has a clear plan, the team knows what to work on and tasks are completed to a high standard.

You’ll work directly with founder Henry Wong to develop SEO strategies, identify opportunities and turn them into actionable tasks. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership, make decisions and keep projects moving without constant direction.

What you’ll do

Review client websites and performance to identify growth opportunities.

Work with Henry to develop and refine client SEO strategies.

Create monthly SEO plans and prioritise technical, on-page, content and internal linking work.

Turn recommendations into clear tasks and manage priorities across multiple accounts.

Team leadership & task management

Manage the daily workload of the onsite SEO specialist and content writer.

Assign tasks and maintain a prioritised two-week pipeline.

Run short check-ins, remove blockers and review completed work.

Give constructive feedback and help the team improve.

Technical & on-page SEO

Conduct audits using Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and Ahrefs.

Identify and prioritise indexing, crawling, redirect, canonical and site architecture issues.

Plan improvements to titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and structured data.

Work directly with our in-house onsite specialist to implement, test and review fixes.

Keyword research & content planning

Research keywords and identify content opportunities based on demand and business relevance.

Create content plans and clear SEO briefs for our writer.

Review content structure, keyword targeting and internal links before publication.

Improve existing content and consider AI search visibility where relevant.

Reporting & performance

Monitor organic traffic, rankings, conversions and AI search visibility.

Prepare monthly reports using our existing dashboards.

Explain what changed, what matters and what to do next.

Proactively flag risks and opportunities to Henry.

What we’re looking for

4+ years of hands-on SEO experience with results you can demonstrate.

Strong technical SEO, on-page optimisation, keyword research and content planning skills.

Experience managing SEO tasks across multiple sites or clients.

Experience guiding, reviewing or coordinating other people’s work.

Confidence with Ahrefs, Google Search Console, GA4 and Screaming Frog.

Familiarity with WordPress, Shopify or similar CMS platforms.

Strong organisation, independent decision-making and clear written and spoken English.

Most importantly, you should be comfortable spotting opportunities, making a plan and moving the team forward without waiting to be told what to do.

Nice to have

AI search optimisation (GEO/AEO) experience.

Ecommerce SEO and experience working with Australian clients.

Basic HTML and CSS, plus Shopify, WordPress or Webflow experience.

Experience mentoring or leading a small team.

You don’t need to have held a formal management title before.

Working hours

This is a full-time remote position based in Malaysia. You’ll need to overlap with Melbourne from 12pm–5pm: 9am–2pm Malaysia time during Australian daylight saving, or 10am–3pm outside daylight saving.
