Job summary

SHB MALAYSIA AUTOMOTIVE APPLIANCE SDN. BHD. is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to develop and maintain welding procedures, oversee fabrication activities, and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards.

You will support welder qualification, inspection, and documentation, investigate welding defects, drive corrective actions, and coordinate with customers and certification bodies to sustain welding quality and productivity across projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant welding engineering or fabrication experience.
• Certification such as AWS CWI, IWE, CSWIP, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of WPS, PQR, WQT, and welding documentation.
• Familiarity with ASME, AWS, ISO, SEMI, and customer-specific welding standards.
• Knowledge of GTAW (TIG) welding and stainless-steel fabrication is preferred.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.
• Understanding of welding inspection and NDT requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain WPS, PQR, and WQT documentation.
• Select appropriate welding processes, consumables, and parameters.
• Supervise welding activities and ensure compliance with approved procedures.
• Conduct Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) and maintain qualification records.
• Perform visual weld inspections and support quality inspections.
• Maintain welding documentation, including weld maps and inspection reports.
• Investigate welding defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Optimize welding processes to improve quality and productivity.
• Coordinate with customers, inspectors, and certification bodies as required.
