Job summary

EA SPORTS is seeking a Software Engineer III on the FC Mobile team in Kuala Lumpur. You will shape the technical foundation for the world’s most popular mobile football experience, leading MERN-based web platforms, high-performance webviews, and rich media applications.

You will guide architecture, enforce code governance, and mentor engineers, with a focus on HTML5 Canvas systems to optimize rendering performance and scalability across live-service loads.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a solid history of delivering robust web systems.
• Strong, production-proven experience with React.js and Node.js (MERN stack).
• Experience conducting thorough code reviews, establishing best practices, and mentoring junior/mid-level developers to maintain high code quality.
• Exceptional debugging, performance‑profiling, and troubleshooting skills across both frontend and backend layers.
• Strong communication skills with a track record of partnering successfully with Lead Engineers, Product Owners, or Technical Directors to align on technical directions.
• Exposure to scaling web applications, including using caching strategies with Redis or handling high-concurrency environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture discussions for MERN-based web platforms.
• Provide hands-on ownership of complex backend/API and frontend components.
• Mentor SE I and SE II engineers to raise technical standards.
• Enforce coding standards, perform rigorous code reviews for performance and security.
• Collaborate with Technical Director and Lead Engineer on roadmap and risk mitigation.
• Ensure efficient caching and handling high-concurrency loads.
