Job summary

Darco Water Systems Sdn. Bhd. in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead process design for water and wastewater projects and provide technical support across tendering, proposal preparation and project execution.

The role emphasizes development of junior engineers, evaluation of new technologies, and ongoing improvement of treatment solutions. Strong Mandarin is preferred; travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment or related process engineering.
• Good knowledge of physical, chemical and biological water/wastewater treatment processes.
• Experience in process design, equipment sizing, PFD/P&ID preparation, technical proposals, tender preparation and cost estimation.
• Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and discharge requirements.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin is preferred to facilitate effective communication with Mandarin-speaking customers and partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop process designs for water and wastewater treatment systems based on project and customer requirements.
• Prepare and review PFD, P&ID, plant layouts, process calculations, equipment sizing and technical specifications.
• Perform detailed process design and assist in preparing control philosophy upon project award.
• Conduct jar testing, site studies and technical assessments where required.
• Provide process and technical support during project execution.
• Assist in testing and commissioning of treatment plants and projects.
• Prepare and coordinate technical proposals and tender submissions for water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Prepare process descriptions, technical write-ups, datasheets, specifications and other supporting documentation.
• Prepare and assist in cost estimation for proposals and tenders.
• Review costing and pricing to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate and liaise with vendors and subcontractors on RFQs based on design requirements and tender specifications.
• Participate in tender briefings, technical discussions and meetings with customers.
• Explore and evaluate new water and wastewater treatment technologies, equipment and vendors.
• Assist the Manager/Assistant Manager in technology research, pilot studies and process development.
• Identify opportunities to improve treatment performance, system efficiency and overall process.
• Keep updated on industry developments and suitable technologies that can support the Company's water and wastewater treatment solutions.
• Guide and support junior Process Engineers and review the quality and accuracy of their work.
• Monitor and support the development and career progression of junior team members.
• Prepare technical training materials and conduct periodic training for engineers and technicians.
• Work closely with Sales, Project, Service and Operations teams to provide process and technical support when required.
