Job summary

Carsem (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Ipoh is seeking an experienced Test Engineering leader to steer the department toward productivity, quality, and profitability.

You will drive the engineering roadmap, manage multi‑team execution, and nurture key customer relationships to enable sustainable growth. The role requires 10–12 years in semiconductor test, strong leadership, and expertise in test automation, NPI, and Lean methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the department’s strategic plans and engineering roadmap to support business growth and customer requirements.
• Lead, organize and direct the resources of the department to achieve productivity, yield, quality, cost, cycle time, equipment utilization, and customer satisfaction targets.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs to enhance manufacturing competitiveness and achieve business objectives.
• Provide leadership and direction in all product testing activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers on technical, operational, quality and business matters, including strategic improvement programs, new product introductions, and transfer opportunities.
• Lead the evaluation, selection, development and implementation of new test technologies, automation solutions, and test equipment to enhance operational performance and support future business requirements.
• Accountable for the profitability and overall business performance of assigned product lines, including cost control, resource optimization, and investment planning.
• Lead new product qualification, technology transfer and product release activities to ensure timely introduction into production with minimal risk and maximum operational readiness.
• Drive customer scorecard performance and ensure all commitments related to quality, delivery, responsiveness and technical support are achieved.
• Develop and execute departmental cost reduction initiatives, productivity improvement programs and strategic projects to meet organizational goals and financial targets.
• Build organizational capability by developing succession plans, coaching managers, identifying high‑potential talent and implementing effective people development strategies.

This position is accountable for leading and driving the overall Test Engineering organization to achieve business objectives in productivity, quality, yield, cost, cycle time, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

The incumbent is responsible for establishing engineering strategies, developing organizational capabilities, driving technology and process innovation, managing customer relationships, and ensuring sustainable business growth through operational excellence. The role provides leadership to multiple engineering teams and ensures alignment with company goals, customer expectations, and industry best practices.

Both factories maintain world‑class quality standards having achieved ISO/TS 16949, ISO-9001, ISO-14001 certifications and comply to the Sony Green Partner Program. They are supported with a global network of sales and technical support offices. The China factory, Carsem-Suzhou Ltd., is located in the province of Jiangsu, 50 miles (80Km) west of Shanghai. The new factory is 172K sq. ft. (16K sq. m.) and is on 645K sq. ft. (60K sq. m.) of land in the Suzhou Industrial Park. The construction was completed in January 2004, the staff has been through extensive training in Carsem's existing Malaysian factories and the assembly and test equipment to support the manufacture of the MLP (Micro Leadframe Package) Quad and Dual was installed during the second quarter of 2004. Customer qualifications were completed during the second quarter and the factory started shipping production volumes during the third quarter of 2004.
