Job summary

University of Kuala Lumpur - Gombak, Selangor invites applications for a Senior Technician in the Communication Technology Section. You will maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, support lecturers and students during practical sessions, and ensure safe, efficient operation of facilities.

Requirements include a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or related field, a minimum of four years' experience, and strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant working experience.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Capable of working under pressure and beyond normal working hours when required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledgeable in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, and testing of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Carry out minor repairs and replace faulty equipment, components, or parts as required.
• Prepare laboratory equipment, instruments, tools, and materials prior to practical sessions.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure laboratories operate efficiently and safely.
• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, safety, security, and functionality of laboratory equipment, instruments, computer systems, software, and facilities.
• Provide technical support and assistance to lecturers and students during laboratory sessions and experimental activities.
• Perform laboratory testing, inspections, and evaluations as required, and provide observations and recommendations for improvement.
• Record, maintain, and update laboratory test results, maintenance records, and related documentation accurately.
• Assist in conducting and compiling customer satisfaction surveys and other quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, institutional policies, and operational standards.
• Support inventory management, including monitoring laboratory equipment, tools, consumables, and spare parts.
• Participate in institutional programmes, departmental activities, meetings, and other assignments as directed by the Head of Department or immediate supervisor.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned in support of the University's operational requirements.
