Job summary

UNIKL BMI invites applications for a Senior Technician in the Communication Technology Section. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, testing, and calibration of laboratory equipment, plus supporting lecturers and students during practical sessions.

The successful candidate will have a Diploma or Bachelors in Telecommunication Engineering, at least four years of experience, and strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Capable of working under pressure and beyond normal hours when required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledgeable in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, and testing of laboratory equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs and replace faulty equipment or parts.
• Prepare equipment, instruments, tools, and materials for practical sessions.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance for efficient lab operation.
• Monitor and maintain safety and functionality of equipment, systems and facilities.
• Provide technical support to lecturers and students during lab sessions.
• Record and update test results, maintenance logs, and related docs.
• Assist in customer satisfaction surveys and quality initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and policies.
• Support inventory management of tools, consumables, and spares.
• Participate in departmental activities and university meetings.
