Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Penang is seeking a maintenance-focused technician to perform preventive maintenance on production testers and related equipment.

You will ensure cleanliness, grounding, RCBO testing, DC power calibration, and UPS reliability to safeguard production yield. The role requires 1 year of PM/maintenance or testing experience, Diploma in Electrical/Electronics, and familiarity with ATE/test handlers.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering or relevant.
• At least 1 year of preventive maintenance/equipment maintenance/testing experience.
• Experience with test equipment such as ATE and Test Handlers is a big plus.
• Good MS Excel/Outlook/Word skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain tester cleanliness to prevent contamination on modules.
• Install and measure grounding systems to protect products from ESD.
• Inspect and test RCBO functionality to ensure proper tripping.
• Verify temperature control accuracy using a calibrator.
• Check UPS battery condition to protect PCs from power failures.
• Perform sniffer tests to detect EOS on test boards.
• Replace booster tank and filters according to PM schedule.
• Troubleshoot PM-related issues including power trips and start-up issues.
• Measure and calibrate DC power supplies to improve production yield.
• Inspect test cages for defects and phantom scratches.
• Carry out scheduled PM activities on testers and equipment.
• Update spare parts inventory by recording withdrawals.
• Report equipment abnormalities promptly to minimize impact.

• Maintain tester cleanliness by removing dust to prevent contamination on TOSA/ROSA modules.


• Install and measure grounding systems to protect products from ESD (Electrostatic Discharge).


• Inspect and test RCBO functionality to ensure proper tripping during electrical abnormalities.


• Verify KLC temperature control accuracy using a calibrator.


• Check UPS battery condition to protect PCs from unexpected power failures.


• Perform sniffer tests to detect EOS (Electrical Overstress) on test boards.


• Replace booster tank and OSA/Yokogawa filters according to the preventive maintenance schedule.


• Troubleshoot and resolve PM-related issues, including power trips, no power supply, fixture failures, and start-up issues.


• Measure and calibrate DC power supplies to prevent start-up errors and improve production yield.


• Inspect test cages for defects that may cause phantom scratches on module shells.


• Perform 5S activities on testers, including housekeeping, proper equipment alignment, cable management, and tester ID labeling.

Job Requirements

Education

Diploma in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering or relevant.

Experience

At least 1 year as Preventive maintenance/Equipment Maintenance/Testing experience. Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, refer by friend, duration of learning or training, etc.

Special Skills

• Computer literate on using MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Word


• Has good communication skills both in written and verbal.


• Experience in handling, troubleshooting and repair of test equipment such as ATE and Test Handlers or working in semiconductor industries is a big plus.


• Experience in using measuring equipment such as multimeter, clamp meter, thermometer, etc.
