Job summary

EPF Malaysia is seeking a senior Automation Test lead to plan, design, and maintain automated test scripts to improve regression coverage and accelerate delivery. You will guide the team, assess environments, and ensure tests align with release goals in a dynamic insurance environment.

The role requires 7–10 years in automation, strong experience with API, Web and mobile testing, and hands-on CI/CD practice.

Job description

To lead and support the Automation Team in planning, designing, executing and maintaining automated test scripts to improve regression testing coverage, reduce manual testing effort, and provide faster, reliable and quality test results.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Analysis and Planning:

• Review application changes, business requirements and system functionality.
• Identify suitable test scenarios for automation based on risk, regression needs and execution frequency.
• Assess test environment and test data requirements to support automation execution.

Test Management and Reporting:

• Manage automation testing requests, scope, schedule and execution progress.
• Prepare or review automation test plans, test coverage and execution approach.
• Monitor automation coverage, execution results, defects, risks and issues.
• Provide clear test status and recommendations to the Test Manager.

Test Design and Script Maintenance:

• Design, develop, review and maintain automation test cases and scripts.
• Develop reusable automation scripts to reduce duplication and support wider regression testing.
• Enhance scripts when there are application changes, recurring failures or process improvements.

Test Execution and Defect Management:

• Execute or guide the team in executing automation scripts and regression test cases.
• Analyse failed executions to identify application defects, script issues, environment issues or test data issues.
• Log defects with complete details and evidence using the approved defect management tool.
• Ensure test execution is completed according to the agreed schedule and elevate issues when required.

Environment, Test Data and Support:

• Coordinate environment readiness, access and test data required for automation testing.
• Support test data preparation, validation, extraction and patching where required.
• Support API testing, integration testing and automation execution for release readiness where applicable.
• Support UAT testers, preparation and issue clarification where required.
• Work with the functional team to ensure end-to-end testing performed.

Process Improvement and Team Guidance:

• Ensure automation activities follow approved QA processes, standards and documentation requirements.
• Recommend improvements to automation practices, framework usage and test execution process.
• Guide, coach and share knowledge with team members on automation tools, scripting and troubleshooting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Passed the Malay Language (including oral test) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or any related background which is recognized by the Malaysian Government from any local or abroad higher learning institution.
• Minimum 7 - 10 years relevant experiences.

Technical Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, developing, maintaining and improving scalable test automation frameworks.
• Strong hands-on experience in Web, Mobile, API and End-to-End (E2E) test automation.
• Extensive experience with automation tools/frameworks such as Postman, Appium, Katalon or equivalent.
• Strong experience in API testing and system integration testing.
• Strong understanding of SIT, integration, E2E, regression, smoke and sanity testing.
• Experience automating complex end-to-end business flows across multiple integrated systems.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
• Strong knowledge of GitHub or other version control systems, including branching, pull requests and code reviews.
• Experience using Jira or equivalent tools for test/defect tracking, traceability and collaboration.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to perform automation feasibility, impact and coverage analysis.
• Ability to build reusable, reliable, maintainable and scalable automation solutions.
• Experience establishing and applying automation standards, best practices and quality metrics.
• Ability to independently manage complex automation challenges and technical issues.
• Experience conducting technical/code reviews and improving automation quality.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and modern software development practices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing and automation tools is an added advantage.
