Job summary

Maersk is seeking an experienced Electrical Operations & Maintenance lead for our facility in Malaysia. You will act as Chargeman for electrical systems, oversee LV/HV equipment, transformers, switchgear, generators, and UPS, and strive for minimal downtime.

You will develop PPM schedules, guide troubleshooting, enforce ST compliance and PTW processes, and supervise technicians and contractors. You will liaise with ST and TNB and prepare technical reports for management.

Responsibilities

• Act as the appointed A0/ A4 Chargeman for the facility, ensuring compliance with ST requirements.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of LV/HV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, generators, UPS, and power backup systems.
• Develop and manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Lead troubleshooting and rectification of electrical faults and breakdowns.
• Ensure timely closure of corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensure full compliance with Electricity Supply Act & Regulations, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements, and HSE policies.
• Enforce safe working practices and manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
• Support audits, inspections, and statutory certifications.
• Supervise facility technicians and external service providers; monitor contractor performance; provide training to team members.
• Liaise with external authorities (ST, TNB) and coordinate with internal stakeholders to support facility needs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, electrical drawings, and compliance certificates; prepare technical reports for management.
• Identify and implement energy efficiency initiatives and system reliability improvements.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Operations & Maintenance

• Act as the appointed A0/ A4 Chargeman for the facility, ensuring compliance with ST requirements.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of:
  • LV/HV electrical systems
  • Transformers, switchgear, and distribution boards
  • Generators, UPS, and power backup systems
• Ensure all electrical systems are operating efficiently with minimal downtime.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Develop and manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Lead troubleshooting and rectification of electrical faults and breakdowns.
• Ensure timely closure of corrective maintenance activities.

3. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure full compliance with:
  • Electricity Supply Act & Regulations
  • Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements
  • Company HSE policies
• Enforce safe working practices and manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
• Support audits, inspections, and statutory certifications.

4. Team & Contractor Management

• Supervise facility technicians and external service providers.
• Monitor contractor work performance, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety requirements.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and training to team members.

5. Stakeholder & Authority Liaison

• Liaise with external authorities such as:
  • Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST)
  • Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Procurement, HSE) to support facility needs.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records including:
  • Maintenance logs
  • Electrical drawings and schematics
  • Compliance certificates and reports
• Prepare technical reports and updates for management review.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement energy efficiency initiatives.
• Propose improvements for system reliability and cost optimization.
