Job summary

Maersk is seeking a skilled Chargeman for a facility in Malaysia. You will act as the appointed A0/A4 Chargeman, oversee LV/HV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear and power backup equipment, and ensure ST compliance while keeping downtime to a minimum.

In this role you will develop and manage preventive maintenance, lead fault troubleshooting, supervise technicians and external contractors, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to support facility reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience as Chargeman A0/A4 and ability to ensure ST compliance.
• Strong knowledge of LV/HV electrical systems and switchgear.
• Ability to plan and manage preventive and corrective maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Act as the appointed A0/A4 Chargeman for the facility, ensuring ST compliance.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of LV/HV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, generators, UPS and backups.
• Ensure all electrical systems operate with minimal downtime.
• Develop and manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Lead troubleshooting and rectification of electrical faults and breakdowns.
• Ensure timely closure of corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensure full compliance with Electricity Supply Act & Regulations, ST requirements, and HSE policies.
• Enforce safe working practices and manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
• Support audits, inspections, and statutory certifications.
• Supervise facility technicians and external service providers.
• Monitor contractor performance and adherence to specs and safety.
• Provide guidance, coaching and training to team members.
• Liaise with external authorities such as ST and TNB.
• Coordinate with Operations, Procurement, HSE to support facility needs.
• Maintain records: maintenance logs, drawings, certificates and reports.
• Prepare technical reports and updates for management review.
• Identify energy efficiency initiatives and propose system improvements for reliability and cost optimization.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Develop and manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Lead troubleshooting and rectification of electrical faults and breakdowns.
• Ensure timely closure of corrective maintenance activities.

3. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure full compliance with:
  • Electricity Supply Act & Regulations
  • Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements
  • Company HSE policies
• Enforce safe working practices and manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
• Support audits, inspections, and statutory certifications.

4. Team & Contractor Management

• Supervise facility technicians and external service providers.
• Monitor contractor work performance, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety requirements.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and training to team members.

5. Stakeholder & Authority Liaison

• Liaise with external authorities such as:
  • Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST)
  • Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Procurement, HSE) to support facility needs.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records including:
  • Maintenance logs
  • Electrical drawings and schematics
  • Compliance certificates and reports
• Prepare technical reports and updates for management review.
• Identify and implement energy efficiency initiatives.
• Propose improvements for system reliability and cost optimization.
