Job summary

ABB is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead the discipline for marine and offshore projects. The role focuses on delivering structural analysis, 3D modeling, and technical documentation on time and within budget, while coordinating with mechanical, piping, electrical, and HVAC teams.

You will mentor junior engineers and manage interfaces, ensuring compliance with international standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience in Marine & Offshore, FPSO, E-House, Oil & Gas, or industrial facility projects.
• Expertise in offshore and modular steel structures, including FPSO topsides, subsea, and complex systems.
• Proficiency in structural engineering software such as SACS, STAAD Pro, ANSYS, ABAQUS.
• Knowledge of welding standards, fabrication methods, construction sequencing, tolerances, and quality requirements.
• Experience in lifting and rigging engineering, mechanical handling design, offshore transportation, loadout, sea fastening and installation methodologies.
• Ability to review/approve calculations, technical reports, vendor deliverables, drawings, and interfaces using Navisworks, E3D, SP3D.
• Excellent initiative, communication and problem-solving skills; stakeholder engagement and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Be a design authority for the engineering discipline and ensure successful delivery of structural solutions.
• Lead 3D modeling, architectural engineering, material handling, structural analysis and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, codes and classification society regulations (ASTM, EN, API, SOLAS, ABS, DNV, LR).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems and resolve interfaces and clashes.
• Manage structural activities across project execution, including planning, reviews, procurement support, fabrication follow-up and schedule.
• Support installation, commissioning, deviations, as-built updates, and structural integrity verification.
• Provide technical leadership through customer engagement, bid evaluations, and mentoring of junior engineers.
