Job summary

Infineon Technologies in Malaysia seeks a Senior Process Development Engineer to lead and support process development in SMT/PCBA manufacturing. You will scout, optimize, verify, and freeze processes to meet timeline, quality, and cost targets, collaborating with Operations and suppliers.

The role requires a strong hands-on background in SMT, mechanical tooling design, and statistical methods, with a focus on process capability and new technology adoption.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s in Engineering with 12 years of SMT/PCBA manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on SMT processes: screen print, component attach, reflow.
• Mechanical engineering, stencil tooling design and reflow know‑how.
• Statistical data analysis including design of experiments (DOE).
• Fluid/thermo‑mechanical simulation knowledge is a plus.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Own or support technical handshakes and knowledge transfer to Operations.
• Generate and update Process Specification, PFMEA, DFMEA, Master FMEA, OJTI, T32, PDR.
• Support prototype and development samples builds.
• Update Process of Record, Assembly Design Rule, Process Roadmap, and Control Plan.
• Liaise with suppliers for improvements and qualification of new tooling/machines/materials.
• Lead task forces for complex problem solving using SPC, APC, DOE, 8D, FMEA.
• Identify and develop new process technology and improve capability for new requirements.
• Define process technology, materials, machines and tooling.

Your Role

Perform Process development activities (Process parameters scouting, optimization, verification and Process Freeze) in Development projects to meet the project targets in terms of timeline, quality, cost competitiveness and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible or support for technical handshake and knowledge transfer to Operations.
• Generate and update relevant documents, e.g., Process Specification, PFMEA, DFMEA, Master FMEA, OJTI, T32, PDR.
• Support prototype and development samples build.
• Provide inputs for updating related documents and ensure their correct contents, e.g., Process of Record, Assembly Design Rule, Process Roadmap, Failure catalogue, Control Plan, Maintenance checklist, Unit process roadmap for development projects.
• Liaise with suppliers for continuous improvement and perform verification and qualification activities for new tooling, machines and materials in Development projects.
• Be the technical lead for task force and complex problem solving team using statistical and analytical tools, e.g., SPC, APC, DOE, 8D, FMEA, DFMEA, etc.
• Identify and develop new Process technology and improve Process capability to meet new requirements from Business divisions.
• Support the definition of Process technology, material, machine and tooling.

Provide technical guidance/buddy to other engineers and project team.

Qualifications and Skills

• Masters/Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant course with 12 years of working experience in SMT or PCBA manufacturing industry or other relevant industry.
• Strong hands‑on experience and skills in SMT processes (screen print, component attach and reflow).
• Mechanical engineering, stencil tooling design and reflow know-how.
• Statistical data analysis including design of experiment.
• Fluid, thermo‑mechanical simulation knowledge is an added advantage.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
