Job summary

ams OSRAM is seeking a senior process engineer to drive the introduction of new technologies into production, bridging unit process development with factory engineering in Kulim, Malaysia. You will own control plans, monitor critical parameters, and guide cross-functional teams through ramp-ups and changes.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science with at least 5 years in semiconductor/LED fabrication, plus strong problem-solving and English communication

Qualifications

• Master level or PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science with 5+ years in semiconductor/LED fabrication.
• Advanced problem solving skills (Six Sigma), DOE, FMEA, 8D, SPC.
• Experience with statistical software (Minitab) is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and English fluency, adaptable in fast-changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Introduce new technologies into production and bridge development with manufacturing.
• Ensure robust process development and design for manufacturability within factory capabilities.
• Own control plans, monitor critical parameters, and support ramp-up and change management.
• Lead cross-functional teams, drive yield improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Handle excursions, root-cause analysis, and problem solving with multiple departments.

Job description

• Introduction of new technologies/platforms into production, act as bridge between unit process development, chip development and the factory´s process engineering, owner of control plan
• Ensure robust process development, design for manufacturability, fit to factory capabilities / platforms, bring mass production experience into the development process, Early involvement from R&D start to define development needs/do&don’t for manufacturing
• Clearly understand tool capabilities and influence tool roadmap as required for future technologies, achieve desired capex utilization and specified target cost goals
• Make sure to identify and monitor critical parameters (special characteristics), ensure smooth ramp-up; update control plans
• Technical Ownership for site to site technology / product transfers, ensure site synchronization including proper change management
• Lead, supervise and monitor manufacturing of the process technology in close teamwork with process engineering and quality assurance
  Improve yields, cost (e.g simplify process), process robustness based on inputs / requirements from yield enhancement / product owners / manufacturing / QA
• Excursion management, root cause finding, process problems solving in close teamwork with different departments (e.g. manufacturing, process development, QA, FA, product engineering, chip RnD, Test)
• Take process ownership at customer audits and for control plan related reporting to key customers.Own and maintain process deliverables (FMEA, Control Plan) from process freeze onwards , lead cross-functional technical teams and discussions
• Master degree or PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Material Sciences with min 5 years experience in semiconductor or LED fabrication processes.
• Advanced problem solving skills (e.g. Six Sigma), Design of Experiments, FMEA, 8D methodology, SPC, FDC, automotive experience beneficial
• Experience with statistical software beneficial (e.g. Minitab, DOE software).
• Excellent communication skills technical and organizational, a teamplayer with high level of agility, able to adapt to fast changing environments.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
