Job summary

Bosch Cross-Domain Computing Solutions (XC) in Penang seeks an experienced hardware design engineer to lead electronic development for automotive projects. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and 5–10 years in circuit design, troubleshooting, and validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering is required.
• 5–10 years of hardware design and product development experience.
• Experience with EMC testing, design verification, and manufacturing support.
• Familiarity with automotive standards (IATF 16949, ISO 26262) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate as project team member for electronic design on category B/C projects.
• Prepare circuit diagrams for HW design meeting product specifications.
• Maintain product design electronic specifications and BOMs for projects.
• Establish a WBS for electronic design and development.
• Evaluate electronic designs for cost, quality and performance improvements.
• Recommend components for new product designs with medium innovation.
• Support projects' sample builds, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Create inputs for manufacturing test instructions and electrical validation tests.
• Act as change engineer for EOL component replacements affecting design.
• Review customer specs and propose feasible design solutions.
• Estimate engineering effort including manhours, materials, travel, testing.
• Provide guidance on automotive norms (CDQ, TS16949, ISO 26262).
• Deliver technical training on hardware circuit design for infotainment/compute modules.
• Develop standards and contribute to technology roadmap definitions.
• Plan continuous improvement activities to strengthen the team.
• Participate in technical forums to stay updated on electronics trends.

The division unites software, electrical and electronics engineers from the areas of driver assistance, automated driving, car multimedia, powertrain, and body electronics in a new unit. XC plays a leading role in shaping the dynamic shift toward ever more digitalization in the vehicle.

The Research and Development team in Penang location is the center of global engineering or this business division. Bosch Cross-Domain Computing Solutions (XC) is divided into five sections:

• Engineering Software and System Test
• Project Management
• Project management and engineering support for small control units (xCU)
• Engineering Hardware and Mechanics
• Product data management, resource management and central services

Job Description

1. Collaborate as project team member for category B/C projects on electronic design matters, identify
issues; provide appropriate guidance and advice to ensure delivery of quality outcomes.
2. Prepares circuit diagram for the realization of HW design in meeting product specification (internally/
and externally) for category B/C projects.
3. Prepare, update and maintain product design electronic specification, bill of material (BOM) for
category B/C projects.
4. Establish a Work-Breakdown-Structure (WBS) on electronic design and development for project
category B/C.
5. Evaluate electronic device design and identify potential areas of improvement in terms of cost, quality
and performance for medium complexity products.
6. Evaluate and recommend electronic components for application in new product design with medium
innovation.
7. Interact and provide support for projects sample built, troubleshooting and issues solving for category
B/C projects.
8. Prepare input for creation of product manufacturing test instructions (PAV); electrical validation test
(FEP); EMC test plan for high complexity products.
9. Interact as change engineer for electronic components replacement due to parts end-of-life (EOL) that
require major design update.
10. Evaluate and review customer technical specifications on electronic design feasibility, proposed
alternative solution; deviation list; and concept presentation for high complexity products.
11. Estimate and provide engineering effort requires for electronic design and development including manhour,
material, travelling, test and validation with major derivative projects.
12. Provide guidance, advice and mentoring on norms and standards established in automotive industry
internally and externally. Eg. CDQ, TS16949, ISO26262.
13. Provide technical training on hardware circuit design requirements for automotive infotainment/
compute device and module development.
14. Develop organizational standards on specific technical topics and contribute to technology roadmap
definition.
15. Plan and coordinate continuous improvement process activities to enhance and strengthen team.
16. Participate in technical forum exhibition to regularly keep up to date in latest technological development
of electronics devices.
17. Any other duties as assigned from time to time to accomplish related results as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electronic hardware design and product development.
• Strong experience in circuit design, schematic development, component selection, and electronic troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience in product validation, EMC testing, design verification, and manufacturing support.
• Proficient in engineering methodologies and problem-solving tools such as FMEA, DFMA, 8D, DRBFM, and Six Sigma.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Knowledge of automotive development standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 26262, and automotive electronic design practices is an added advantage.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
