Job summary

Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a Process and Equipment Engineer (Automotive ICs) to join its growing semiconductor testing operations in Malaysia. The role focuses on Tape & Reel, Vision, and Packaging processes, with responsibilities spanning machine release, setup, calibration and ongoing maintenance.

You will analyze downtime, troubleshoot tester systems, and work with suppliers on improvements to reduce failures and costs.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic).
• 1–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with COHU NY32 Turret and Vitrox Tape Reel systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interface for Tape & Reel, Vision and Packaging activities.
• Pre-acceptance and release of machines; assist setup and tuning.
• Perform maintenance per the maintenance plan and calibration.
• Analyze downtime causes; repair tester equipment per Eng. spec.
• Support tester system troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Localize failures on measurement boards and PCBs.
• Align equipment per supplier specs and engineer changes.
• Collaborate with suppliers on technical discussions and timing.

• Full-time

In Malaysia, Bosch is active in four business sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. The company has three manufacturing sites and research and development offices in Penang, producing automotive electronics, power tools and steering systems, and soon a fourth plant with a final testing centre for sensors and semiconductors. PgP5 Plant is Bosch Group’s newest expansion in Malaysia a semiconductor test site in Batu Kawan Penang. The construction began in May 2021, and first series of production commenced in 2023. With the long-term forecasts for growth of semiconductor component quantities, coupled with the front-end production in Bosch’s Dresden facility in Germany, capacity expansion is required for the back-end production, which is the final testing phase of semiconductors and sensors. PgP5 will primarily focus on the final testing of components manufactured at Bosch Automotive Electronics’ fab in Dresden, Germany. The plant will also house R&D and training facilities.

• Interface and responsible for all Tape & Reel, Vision and Packaging related.
• Responsible for pre-acceptance and release of machines incl. support in setup, fine tuning, sustaining and maintenance.
• Perform maintenance according to maintenance plan on machine and calibration.
• Analysis of downtime reasons of the equipment, mechanical, electrical and electronic repairing of the equipment. Release of tester equipment according Eng. spec.
• Active support and execution of tester system and test program related troubleshooting, analysis, repair and documentation of downtime root cause incl. localization of failures on test system also in combination with complete testing unit, carries and products.
• Localization of failures on measurement boards, PCBs and repair of boards.
• Mechanical, electrical alignment of the equipment according to supplier specification
• Autonomous adaption and extension of circuit diagrams according to engineering specifications
• First contact person regarding appointments with equipment suppliers and regarding questions from the equipment suppliers. Monitoring due dates. Technical discussions with suppliers, engineering.
• Develop measures to reduce failures, to improve quality and output and to reduce costs together with engineering.
• Support improvement activities: Actively cooperate in improvement projects, bring in suggestions to improve production KPIs, like CT/ Output, Yield/OEE, Budget/Cost, reduce failures (MTBF, MTTR, down times) and improve quality
• Support and train Operators/Technician (as per Work Instruction) and execution of maintenance activities.
• Support analysis of test data and MES to derive and implement optimizations regarding test time, yield and test dept.
• 8D responsibility and hold lots of dispose
• Aligning all changes with lead plant engineering
• Support FMEA and Control Plan
• Execute any other related duties assigned by immediate supervisor from time to time.

• Minimum Bachelor's DegreeinEngineering (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, etc.)
• 1 to 5 years of relevant engineering experience
• Experiences in COHU NY32 Turret & Vitrox Tape reel includes vison system is an added advantage.
