What’s The Role

Process Objective:

  • Submit accurate and timely tax returns in accordance with local tax rules, regulations, and practices, within deadlines.
  • Pay or effect payment of all tax liabilities on time and in the right amount, as per the tax return.
  • Submit accurate and timely tax accounting information in line with local and Group requirements.
  • Engage closely with other processes to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities related to tax submissions.
  • Coordinate tax audits to deliver and support audit requests in a timely, compliant manner, ensuring quality standards and timelines are met.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The Senior Specialist will manage team activities, coordinate processes, and ensure top-tier indirect tax compliance across the countries and taxes involved.

  • Prepare and execute accurate tax returns, supporting documents, and tax payments.
  • Develop professional relationships within the team and across Finance Operations.
  • Update work instructions regularly as per policy guidelines.
  • Conduct variance analysis, reasonableness checks, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely SOAR analysis of tax account balances.
  • Drive corrective actions to ensure compliance with local regulations and internal procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Manage records and documentation related to tax returns, complying with risk management procedures.
  • Analyze and manage indirect tax risks, resolving complex issues and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Provide routine advice on indirect tax treatments, referring to Tax advisors when necessary.
  • Manage the tax team to deliver accurate tax returns and payments, collaborating on business changes impacting tax.
  • Lead the team during tax audits, liaising with Tax Authorities and Advisors, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Monitor refunds and manage Shell Accounts Receivables efficiently.
  • Ensure team compliance with standards and targets, closing gaps as needed.
  • Oversee information collation for audits and inquiries.
  • Perform under tight deadlines and handle ad-hoc requests.

Key Competencies & Requirements

Proficiency in Indirect Taxation, Process & Data Management, Governance & Assurance, Business Performance Management, and Business Partnering.

  • Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years in accounting/indirect tax, with 2 years in team management.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, MS Office (Advanced), and digital tools for analytics and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Thai language (reading and writing) is required.
