Job summary

Astro in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Self Service team, building apps used by millions of subscribers. You will own end‑to‑end delivery across web and mobile, design scalable APIs, and contribute to AI‑powered features on AWS.

You will collaborate with product managers in an Agile environment, mentor juniors, and help raise the bar on production excellence through testing, CI/CD, and robust monitoring.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with production full‑stack work.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript across backend and frontend stacks.
• Experience designing scalable RESTful APIs and integrating third‑party services.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Strong state management (Zustand/Redux) and data fetching patterns (SWR/React Query).
• UI skills using Tailwind CSS or similar, with cross‑device quality awareness.
• Security, observability and production hygiene best practices.
• Ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams and explain trade‑offs.
• Experience on AWS or similar cloud; hands‑on AI/LLM integration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of customer‑facing features across web and mobile apps.
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Node.js/TypeScript.
• Develop responsive frontends using React and Next.js with strong UX focus.
• Design and ship AI‑assisted features using cloud AI services.
• Work with AWS infrastructure to build reliable, cost‑aware systems.
• Integrate with payment gateways, CMS, identity/SSO and other systems.
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and production monitoring/incident response.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers in an Agile team.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster shared ownership culture.
