Robert Bosch Semiconductor Manufacturing Penang Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Senior Software Developer to drive CIM-based MES solutions for high-automation semiconductor manufacturing. You will implement, support, and optimize software across global networks, collaborating with international teams.

You will develop, connect, and maintain core CIM and reporting platforms while ensuring data quality and actionable insights across yield and cycle-time metrics. English fluency is essential; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology (or equivalent) with at least 5 years of professional experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Advanced knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, modern MES systems, and related tools (e.g., R2R, SPC, FDC).
• Excellent programming skills in a high-level language (Java, C++, or C#) and strong experience with SQL (Oracle DB).
• Proficiency with version control, build, and project management tools (e.g., Git, Maven, Jira).
• Hands-on experience with at least one major business intelligence and visualization tool.
• Proven experience building and maintaining ETL processes to aggregate data from multiple sources.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a structured, independent work ethic; agile mindset; intercultural teamwork.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

PgP5 Plant is Bosch Group’s newest expansion in Malaysia a semiconductor test site in Batu Kawan Penang. The construction has begun in May 2021 and first series of production commenced in 2023. With the long-term forecasts for growth of semiconductor component quantities, coupled with the front-end production in Bosch’s Dresden facility in Germany, capacity expansion is required for the back-end production, which is the final testing phase of semiconductors and sensors. PgP5 will primarily focus on the final testing of components manufactured at Bosch Automotive Electronics’ fab in Dresden, Germany. The plant will also house R&D and training facilities.

Job Description

As a Software Developer on our team, you will be a key contributor to strategic manufacturing solutions that enhance productivity across our semiconductor operations. Your work will span both plant-specific and international semiconductor network projects.

In this dynamic role, you will:

Develop, support, and provide strategic consultingon Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) solutions for the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) at our Penang plant.

Play a vital role in software projectsto connect our global semiconductor network, with a focus on boosting manufacturing productivity.

Take primary responsibility for the development and maintenanceof critical global-use software and reporting platforms for this international initiative.

Your daily tasks will include:

Collaboration and Requirements:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, engineers, and international stakeholders to define business requirements, create technical specifications, and ensure the seamless integration of CIM solutions with other systems.

Analysis and Strategy:Analyze manufacturing workflows and assess current systems to identify inefficiencies, provide strategic consulting, and recommend CIM solutions that optimize processes.

Development and Implementation:Manage the full software development lifecycle—including design, implementation, and enhancement for both new and existing CIM solutions and global reporting platforms to improve functionality and performance.

Data, Reporting, and BI:Design, develop, and deploy interactive reports and dashboards for key manufacturing metrics (e.g., yield, cycle time). This includes implementing data visualizations, developing robust ETL/ELT data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with database teams to optimize the underlying data architecture.

Support and Maintenance:Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing CIM solutions by addressing bugs, responding promptly to user inquiries, and providing technical assistance.

Documentation and Training:Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation (including design specifications and user manuals) and conduct training sessions to ensure effective use of CIM solutions.

Performance and Innovation:Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented solutions to ensure they meet the desired objectives, while continuously exploring new technologies to drive innovation in manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

Semiconductor & MES Expertise:Advanced knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, modernMES systems, and related tools (e.g., R2R, SPC, FDC). Experience integrating MES modules and developing interfaces usingSECS/GEM.

Core Development Skills:Excellent programming skills in a high-level language (Java, C++, or C#) and strong experience withSQL(particularly Oracle DB). Proficiency with version control, build, and project management tools (e.g.,Git, Maven, Jira).

Reporting & BI Tools:Hands-on experience with at least one major business intelligence and visualization tool.
