Job summary

Woh Hup Group in Johor, Malaysia, is seeking a Senior / Site Engineer (Civil & Structural) to oversee C&S works on our data centre project. You will coordinate daily site activities, ensure work adheres to drawings, specs, and schedules, and collaborate with project managers, consultants, and subcontractors.

The role requires 5–8 years of C&S experience, a civil/structural engineering qualification, and a proven ability to lead on-site teams in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior / Site Engineer (Civil & Structural) to join our project team for a data centre development in Johor. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate daily C&S site activities, ensuring that construction works are carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.

Working with the main contractor, the candidate will coordinate closely with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and other site teams to ensure the smooth execution of structural and civil works, from substructure through superstructure and architectural interface coordination, while meeting project deadlines and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily civil and structural construction activities, ensuring work is executed according to approved construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Manage site activities involving earthworks, excavation, piling, foundations, pile caps, ground beams, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, and other associated C&S works.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure works are completed according to the project programme, milestones, and agreed deadlines.
• Coordinate with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other disciplines to resolve technical and site-related issues.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, structural details, shop drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate site implementation.
• Coordinate site inspections, including requests for inspection, concrete pre-pour inspections, reinforcement checks, formwork inspections, and other relevant C&S quality control activities.
• Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, engineering specifications, relevant standards, and project quality requirements.
• Monitor subcontractors' performance, workmanship, manpower, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient site execution.
• Identify site discrepancies, design conflicts, and construction issues, and coordinate with the relevant parties to implement timely solutions.
• Liaise with the QA/QC and safety teams to ensure compliance with quality procedures, inspection requirements, and site safety regulations.
• Prepare and maintain site documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, inspection records, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in monitoring construction materials, site resources, and subcontractor work schedules to support timely project delivery.
• Coordinate C&S works with M&E teams to ensure proper interface management and accommodate data centre infrastructure requirements.
• Attend site coordination meetings and provide regular progress updates to the project management team.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with project safety requirements and applicable statutory regulations.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant C&S construction experience for Senior Engineer level, or 3–5 years for Site Engineer level.
• Experience in data centre, industrial, commercial, infrastructure, or large-scale building projects is preferred.
• Experience working for a main contractor is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods, including reinforced concrete works, foundations, piling, earthworks, and structural steel works.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, construction specifications, and method statements.
• Experience in site supervision, subcontractor coordination, progress monitoring, and construction quality control.
• Good understanding of construction sequencing, site safety requirements, and quality assurance procedures.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently and manage site activities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Willing to be based at the project site in Johor, Malaysia.
