Job summary

Emerson's Test and Measurement unit seeks an experienced hardware design engineer to drive analog/digital board‑level redesigns, targeting robust CPU/SoC interfaces. You will design, simulate, debug, and validate hardware changes, mentor juniors, and deliver documentation and training materials for manufacturing releases.

You will leverage VHDL/SystemVerilog, route high‑speed interfaces, and integrate DFM inputs to improve yield and quality, while leading design efforts across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years work experience in analog/digital design.
• PhD/B.Eng/M.Eng/BS/MS in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
• Board level digital circuit design expertise.
• Experience defining routing constraints for high‑speed interfaces.
• Experience in circuit design with CPU/SoC/Micro‑controller.
• Proficient with standard hardware lab equipment including scopes and analyzers.
• Test automation scripting to improve design validation.

Responsibilities

• Research and propose alternative parts to avoid EOL issues in NI products.
• Implement and simulate designs through CAD and synthesis tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics).
• Verify and validate hardware redesigns and debug issues.
• Root cause analysis for failures during VnV and MFG builds.
• Integrate DFM inputs from MFG to improve yield and quality.
• Create mock‑ups as POC to strengthen redesign proposals for domain leaders.
• Produce RCA diagrams and identify root causes.
• Document project progress and share design solutions with stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge.
• Lead the team to develop product and design documentation.
• Create debug tools and training materials for MFG during releases.
