Job summary

Jabil Circuit Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a Senior Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to lead technical activities for the design, manufacture, modification, and certification of industrial control panels and semiconductor equipment.

The role oversees UL 508A panels, SEMI standards, and product compliance with NFPA, IEC, CSA, CE/UKCA, RoHS and REACH. Travel about 15–25% is expected, and strong English documentation skills are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience.
• 5+ years of UL 508A experience for panel design, review, construction, inspection or certification.
• Strong knowledge of UL 508A, SCCR and Supplement SB.
• Experience with electrical controls, industrial automation or semiconductor equipment.
• Experience with certification bodies, testing laboratories, auditors or inspectors.
• Working knowledge of SEMI S2/S8/S10/S22, NFPA 79 and IEC 60204-1 is desirable.
• Good understanding of ISO 9001 and change/corrective-action processes.
• Strong English communication and documentation skills.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, manufacturing, modification, and certification of industrial control panels and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the technical subject-matter expert for UL 508A industrial control panels.

Review electrical schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, component selection, wiring, protection, SCCR, markings, and panel construction requirements.

Support UL-listed panel-shop activities, UL inspections, certification, audits, and corrective actions.

Apply relevant SEMI safety standards, particularly SEMI S2, S8, S10 and S22, to semiconductor equipment.

Support product compliance with applicable NFPA, IEC, CSA, CE/UKCA, RoHS and REACH requirements.

Develop compliance matrices, technical documentation, engineering guidelines and objective evidence.

Support design reviews, risk assessments, engineering changes, audits and corrective actions.

Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Customers and external certification bodies.

Provide technical guidance and training to engineering and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

8+ years of relevant engineering experience.

5+ years of hands‑on UL 508A experience involving industrial control‑panel design, review, construction, inspection or certification.

Strong knowledge of UL 508A, SCCR and Supplement SB.

Experience with electrical controls, industrial automation or semiconductor capital equipment.

Experience working with certification bodies, testing laboratories, auditors or inspectors.

Working knowledge of SEMI S2/S8/S10/S22, NFPA 79 and IEC 60204‑1 is highly desirable.

Good understanding of ISO 9001 and engineering change/corrective-action processes.

Strong English communication and documentation skills.

Willingness to travel approximately 15–25%.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting or managing a UL-listed panel shop.

Semiconductor equipment compliance experience.

Experience with product safety, risk assessment and international certification.

Experience with IEC/UL 61010, CSA, CE/UKCA, RoHS and REACH.
