Job summary

The role requires a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with strong skills in cost estimation, contracts, and BIM/QS software.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification as a Quantity Surveyor or equivalent (Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying within the construction industry.
• Proven expertise in cost estimation, budget management, and financial control.
• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, including JCT, NEC, and local Malaysian contracts.
• Proficiency in BIM tools and quantity surveying software.
• Excellent numeracy and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for construction projects.
• Managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure throughout all project phases.
• Conducting site inspections and measuring works to verify contract compliance and quantity accuracy.
• Preparing variation orders and managing contractual claims between clients, contractors, and consultants.
• Advising on cost control strategies and value engineering opportunities to optimise project outcomes.
• Liaising with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure effective communication regarding financial matters.
• Preparing progress reports and financial statements for project stakeholders.
• Conducting final account negotiations and settlement of contractual disputes.
• Maintaining accurate records of project documentation and financial data.
