Job summary

Chubb in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Property Underwriter to evaluate, select, and price property risks while supporting the underwriting team. You will monitor production, drive new business, renewals, and retention, ensuring profitability and adherence to guidelines.

You will analyze risk characteristics, review delegated risks, mentor junior underwriters, and build strong broker relationships.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of property insurance underwriting experience with exposure to production management.
• Track record of achieving production and profitability targets.
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, or related field.
• CPCU or ACII qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite property insurance submissions per company policies and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk characteristics, loss history, and exposure data to determine terms and pricing.
• Review and approve risks within delegated authority; elevate complex cases as needed.
• Monitor production figures (new business, renewals, retention).
• Collaborate with the team to achieve production targets and profitability goals.
• Identify opportunities for portfolio growth and improvement.
• Provide training and mentoring to junior underwriters and staff.
• Offer technical guidance and support to the underwriting team.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients.
• Represent the company in meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
• Adhere to fire underwriting policies and regulatory requirements.
