Job summary

Chubb European Group Ltd. in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Underwriting Leader for casualty to drive risk selection, pricing and portfolio strategy across delegated authorities.

The role focuses on technical underwriting, governance, and collaboration with Claims, Legal & Compliance and risk teams to enhance profitability and client outcomes. The successful candidate will coach underwriters, develop market relationships with brokers and clients, and strengthen Chubb’s casualty proposition

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal casualty business within delegated authority, including complex, large and technically demanding risks; assess exposures, controls, claims history, contractual obligations and legal liability; determine terms, conditions, deductibles, limits, pricing and capacity.
• Support the annual Casualty business plan and portfolio strategy, monitor performance using premium, rate, loss ratio, combined ratio, retention, new business, quote conversion and claims trend indicators; identify concentration and remediation actions and adjust appetite, pricing, terms or limits as required.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, agents, clients and internal distribution partners; own or support selected renewals and new business opportunities; conduct broker meetings, workshops and visits to strengthen Chubb’s casualty proposition.
• Operate within delegated underwriting authority, guidelines, risk appetite, local regulatory requirements and policies; ensure compliance with AML, due diligence, fair treatment and record-keeping; participate in reviews, audits and remediation activities.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to underwriters; share market intelligence and underwriting best practices; support talent development and the creation of a strong technical underwriting culture.
