Senior Project Manager for Rooftop (Renewable Energy - Solar PV) – HQ Based

Job summary

Sierra Solar, a subsidiary of ERS Energy Group, seeks an experienced Project Delivery Lead to drive end-to-end rooftop solar projects for C&I and residential segments in Kuala Lumpur. You will build scalable delivery systems, lead cross-functional teams, and manage budgets, schedules, and safety across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities include overseeing project handovers to COD, ensuring regulatory compliance with SEDA/ ST/ TNB, and driving KPI dashboards for performance, cost and customer

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or Construction / Project Management.
• At least 8 to 10 years of project delivery experience, with at least 4 years in solar PV, ideally C&I rooftop.
• Track record of running many parallel projects with full P&L accountability.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian rooftop solar regulations and approval processes.
• Has managed teams of 10 or more, including subcontractor networks.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of Commercial & Industrial and residential rooftop solar portfolio.
• Build the systems, people and metrics needed to scale rooftop delivery as the business grows.
• Run a multi-project portfolio from handover to COD, covering schedule, cost, quality and safety.
• Manage project P&L, including margin protection, variation orders, cash flow and collections milestones.
• Drive regulatory approvals and connection with SEDA, ST and TNB under NEM and SELCO programs.
• Manage subcontractors and installer teams: selection, performance and capacity planning.
• Standardise delivery through playbooks, checklists and design-to-install handovers, reducing cycle time.
• Own Health, Safety & Environment on rooftops, including working-at-height and electrical safety.
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, procurement and O&M for smooth handovers.
• Set up and report KPIs such as installs per month, cost per kWp, days to COD, defect and rework rates, customer satisfaction.
• Lead, coach and grow project managers, site supervisors and coordinators.
• Structured leadership development path with increasing operational responsibility as company scales.
• Exposure to budgeting, headcount planning, vendor strategy and management reviews.

b) Key responsibilities

• Run a multi-project portfolio from handover to Commercial Operation Date (“COD”), covering schedule, cost, quality and safety
• Manage project P&L, including margin protection, variation orders, cash flow and collections milestones
• Drive regulatory approvals and connection with the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (“SEDA”), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (“ST”) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”) under programmes such as Net Energy Metering (“NEM”) and Self-Consumption (“SELCO”)
• Manage subcontractors and installer teams: selection, performance and capacity planning
• Standardise delivery through playbooks, checklists and design-to-install handovers, and cut cycle time, especially for high-volume residential work
• Own Health, Safety & Environment (“HSE”) on rooftops, including working-at-height and electrical safety
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, procurement and Operations & Maintenance (“O&M”) for smooth handovers
• Set up and report Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”) such as installs per month, cost per kWp, days to COD, defect and rework rates, and customer satisfaction
• Lead, coach and grow project managers, site supervisors and coordinators
• Structured leadership development path with increasing operational responsibility as company scales
• Exposure to budgeting, headcount planning, vendor strategy and management reviews
• Direct mentoring from senior leadership

d) Requirements
