Job summary

Carsem is seeking a Senior Product Test Engineer to join its Ipoh-based team. You will develop and optimize test programs for semiconductor products, collaborating with design and manufacturing to ensure reliable test coverage and yield improvement.

You will oversee test equipment setups and qualification, define testing strategies for new packages, and support customer qualifications and audits while mentoring junior engineers and driving capability enhancements across the test operations.

Role Description The Senior Product Test Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based in Ipoh, Malaysia. This role involves developing, optimizing, and maintaining test programs and methodologies for semiconductor products, ensuring accurate characterization and reliable test coverage. The engineer will collaborate closely with design, process, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot yield issues, analyze test data, and drive continuous improvement in product performance and test efficiency. Responsibilities include overseeing test equipment setup and qualification, defining test strategies for new products and packages, and supporting customer qualifications and audits. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers, documenting best practices, and contributing to technology and capability enhancements across Carsem’s test operations.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Test Engineering and Testing, including experience designing and implementing robust test methodologies.
• Hands-on experience in Product Testing for semiconductor devices, with a focus on yield analysis, failure investigation, and test optimization.
• Proficiency in working with Test Equipment (ATE, handlers, probers, instrumentation) and related hardware and software interfaces.
• Relevant background in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with the ability to interpret schematics and device specifications.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments and familiarity with industry quality standards and certifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills, with the ability to make decisions based on statistical evidence.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural teams and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Experience with scripting or programming for test automation (e.g., C/C++, Python, or similar) is an advantage.
• Prior experience in OSAT, semiconductor packaging, or similar test-focused roles is highly beneficial.
