The Senior Product Developer supports the Product Development Manager in the end-to-end development of HOOGA products, with a key focus on the fragrance and scent category, including home fragrance, body care, car fragrance, fine fragrance and other scented lifestyle products.
Working closely with the Design team, suppliers and fragrance houses, the role ensures product concepts are translated into commercially viable products that meet the intended quality, cost, brand direction and launch timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development & Execution
- Work closely with Product Development Manager to manage product development process from initial research and sampling through finalisation, packaging and launch readiness.
- Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers and fragrance partners to ensure product, scent, packaging and specifications are executed as intended.
- Assist in preparing seasonal style guides and fragrance concepts.
- Review samples, provide development feedback and resolve issues throughout the development process.
- Monitor development timelines and ensure key milestones are achieved.
- Fragrance & Market Development
- Conduct market and competitor research to identify emerging fragrance trends, ingredients, product formats and consumer opportunities.
- Support fragrance evaluation and selection together with the Product Development Manager, fragrance houses and suppliers.
- Explore new product concepts and innovations across consumer fragrance categories including home fragrance, home care, body care, car fragrance and fine fragrance.
- Translate market insights into commercially relevant product recommendations.
- Costing & Commercial Management
- Prepare, compare and review product costings across suppliers and development options.
- Evaluate materials, specifications, packaging, MOQ and other cost implications to ensure commercial feasibility.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining the intended product quality and consumer value.
- Support retail pricing and product selection with relevant costing and product information.
- Packaging, Documentation & Launch Readiness
- Prepare product specifications and coordinate packaging submissions, artwork and other required development documentation.
- Manage relevant launch requirements including product codes, barcodes, photography, packaging testing and product information.
- Liaise with internal team on product selling points, product write-ups and packaging communication.
- Prepare product samples and presentation materials for biannual Seasonal Buy Conference (SBC) and other key presentations.
- Team, Supplier & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product Design, Purchasing, Quality Management, Marcom, suppliers and fragrance partners throughout the development process.
- Guide junior team members on product development tasks and review key submissions when required.
- Communicate development requirements clearly and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
- Support the Product Development Manager on other product development responsibilities as required.

Preferred Experience & Background
- 3-5+ years of experience in product design or product development, preferably within the fragrance related consumer product categories.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design development and aesthetic alignment.
- Experience evaluating fragrance samples, scented product formats or fragrance-related packaging is preferred.
- Qualifications or experience in Product Design, Chemistry, Food Science or related disciplines may be considered.
- For candidates from a scientific or technical background, strong commercial awareness, product sensibility and willingness to develop expertise in consumer fragrance are important.
- Experience working collaboratively within a design team environment and ability to guide juniors within the team.
