Job summary

TANJUNG RATNA SDN BHD is seeking an organized accounting professional to manage payments, banking, and financial reporting duties in our Kuala Lumpur office. The role emphasizes timely payments, accurate records, and coordination with internal teams.

Responsibilities include preparing payments, bank reconciliations, monthly management accounts, and year-end closing, with close oversight from the COO and Finance leadership.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of accounts payable and general ledger functions.
• Ability to prepare and review payment documentation.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process payments to vendors, suppliers, service providers and other parties.
• Prepare and issue physical cheques and ensure proper authorization before payment.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all payments made.
• Maintain hardcopy payment documents, compile supporting documents and submit them to the Accounts Department for filing and record purposes.
• Obtain Management approval for urgent payments through ePay, eTransfer and other approved payment channels.
• Prepare and arrange monthly scheduled payments in accordance with the payment schedule.
• Bank in cheques and other banking instruments for vendors and parties located outside Kuala Lumpur.
• Perform banking errands, including collection of new cheque books, purchase of bank drafts and other banking-related matters.
• Liaise with external parties, including lawyers, bankers, company secretaries, valuers, professional consultants and relevant Management Officers on applications, documentation and other related matters.
• Liaise with internal departments including Finance, Accounts, Marketing, Legal, HR, Purchasing, Project Teams and Site Supervisors to coordinate payment, documentation and administrative matters.
• Review and approve staff leave applications under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
• Log in to the Maybank online banking platform and retrieve daily bank statements for monitoring and reconciliation purposes.
• Monitor daily banking transactions and ensure payment records are properly updated and maintained.
• Schedule and coordinate physical and online meetings with internal and external parties.
• Assist the Finance and Accounts Department with other accounting, payment and administrative duties as assigned by Management.
• Manage the full set of accounts, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
• Handle month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments and necessary adjustments.
• Monitor cash flow, payments and outstanding receivables.
• Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.
• Liaise with tax agents and assist with tax-related matters.
• Ensure timely compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
• Review accounting entries and supporting documents for accuracy.
