Job summary

Puncak Tegap Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks an experienced Database Engineer to design, document, and manage Oracle database environments. You will work with IT project managers, application programmers, and system architects to ensure secure access, efficient storage, and reliable disaster recovery.

The role requires hands-on experience with Oracle RMAN, Dataguard, BPM/SOA, and Enterprise Manager on Linux, plus scripting for automation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of software and database development experience with Oracle Database.
• Experience in Oracle infrastructure and architecture design, BPM/SOA Suite, and Enterprise Manager.
• Strong performance tuning and database optimization skills.
• Proficient in backup/restore, RMAN, and managing tablespace allocation and health.
• Experience configuring Oracle 11g/12c/19c on Linux and Oracle Dataguard.

Responsibilities

• Understand and document database architecture and access controls.
• Manage user access, security, and permissions.
• Develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans.
• Maintain storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures.
• Monitor availability and performance of databases and platforms.

Role Description

• Understand the design and document database architecture
• Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security
• controlling access permissions and privileges
• developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
• ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
• working closely with IT project managers, application programmers and system architect
• Create shell scripts for task automation / unix cronjob
• Create, test and execute data management languages
• Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements
• Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency
• Monitor systems and platforms for availability
• Oversee backup, replication and failover
• Restore corrupted databases using backup
• Install, upgrades and patches
• Provide 24/7 support for critical situations

Required Skills

• Minimum 5 years of software / database development experience Oracle Database
• Experienced in Oracle Database infrastructure and architecture design, Oracle SOA Suite (BPM), Enterprise Manager
• Experienced in database optimization and performance tuning
• Experience with backup and restore, table space allocation/management, managing the overall health and status of the database, managing the database schema, creating triggers and stored procedures, monitoring the Oracle alert logs and resolving database-related issues.
• Must have experience in configuring 11g/12c/19c database in Linux
• Must have experience in configuring Oracle Dataguard/RMAN
• Must have experience with Oracle product troubleshooting and problem resolution
• Partake in meetings to give advice and recommendations
