Job summary

IJM Group in Malaysia seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead maintenance for Material Handling Systems (MHS) and related equipment. The role emphasizes reliability, planning, and coordination with contractors to ensure uptime.

The candidate should have five years of relevant experience with strong analytical and communication skills, and be fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin is beneficial. Proficiency in MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of related field experience.
• Experience with Material Handling Systems (MHS) PMS and TMS.
• Familiar with ship unloaders, stacker reclaimers, conveyors and related equipment.
• Experience in port operations or similar industrial environments is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination and communication skills.
• Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily and weekly maintenance activities for MHS and related equipment.
• Oversee day-to-day maintenance to ensure reliability, availability and readiness.
• Evaluate systems and equipment to identify maintenance requirements and defects.
• Monitor maintenance work by the contractor to ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical guidance and recommend best practices for maintenance and reliability.
• Plan and implement maintenance, outages, and major activities.
• Monitor progress and inspect work to meet specifications, quality and schedule.
• Oversee Preventive Maintenance activities by the contractor and ensure timely execution.
• Develop and execute major equipment maintenance overhauls and outages.
• Organise regular inspections and ensure timely closure of issues.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify improvements for reliability.
