Job summary

AIA Digital+ is seeking a senior Storage & Backup Lead to shape and execute the storage and data backup strategy. You will manage on-prem SAN/NAS, drive DR and data protection initiatives, and oversee vendor relationships across the region.

Lead a team to deliver scalable, secure storage solutions, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. A degree in IT and 7+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Hands-on experience with on-prem storage and data backup ecosystems.
• Experience managing regional IT storage and backup projects.
• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for on-prem storage and data backup.
• Oversee deployment and maintenance of SAN/NAS and hybrid storage.
• Lead backup operations across the organization, using IBM TSM and related tools.
• Design robust disaster recovery and data protection solutions.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement.
• Monitor performance, optimize storage usage, and enforce security/compliance.

About the Role

With respect to technology knowledge

• Ensures IT service availability and minimises the AIA's business impact of IT service outages through the effective management.
• Contributes to the improvement of user satisfaction with IT services by ensuring that the arrangements remain aligned with business needs and priorities and fit for purpose.
• Improves the overall technical performance as measured by the technology related KPIs and SLAs (utilisation, availability, response times etc.) year on year

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

• Assist to develop and implement strategic roadmap for on-premises storage infrastructure & data backup solution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Evaluate and recommend storage and data backup technologies and solutions from leading vendors to meet business needs.
• Lead a team in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance technology solutions.

Storage Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of on-premises storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and hybrid solutions.
• Ensure optimal performance, availability, and capacity of storage infrastructure.
• Ensure the team to manage storage lifecycles, including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of legacy systems.

Backup Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of data backup services, ensuring timely and accurate backups across the organization.Oversee backup tools and technologies, including but not limited to IBM TSM, VTL, DSI, and other enterprise-grade solutions

Vendor and Technology Expertise:

• Serve as the subject matter expert for enterprise storage platforms such as IBM FlashSystem, EMC PowerMax/PowerStore, Pure Storage FlashArray, and NetApp AFF systems and enterprise data backup solutions such as IBM TSM / VTL, DSI.Manage relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement of hardware and software.Stay updated on the latest advancements in technologies and evaluate their applicability to the organization.

Disaster Recovery and Data Protection:

• Design and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for on-premises storage systems & data backup systems.Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.Ensure the team conducts regular testing and audits of disaster recovery processes.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

• Oversee system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.Review reports on utilization, performance, and incidents which are prepared by the team

Security and Compliance:

• Collaborate with security team to ensure systems are secure and compliant with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Ensure access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive data is implemented.

Budget & Resource Management:

• Manage related budget.Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadline and organizational goals.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Relevant Experience :

• 7+ years of relevant experience, at least 3 years in managerial position with regional coverage.
• Hands on experience on position related technical components.

• An equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.

Education :

• Bachelor's degree holder of unviersity on Information Technology or related discipline

Technical Skills :

• Deep knowledge of storage technology and data backup solutions
• Familiarity with storage and backup management tools and software
• Strong understanding of data protection, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with hybrid cloud storage integrations and cloud-based backup solutions is a plus
