Job summary

Dutajaya Media Sdn Bhd is seeking a Legal Counsel to draft, review, and amend commercial agreements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. You will support compliance with licenses and regulatory requirements and coordinate with external counsel and group companies.

Proficiency in Mandarin and English is mandatory; Bahasa Malaysia is acceptable. Strong analytical skills, discretion, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• Mandarin and English proficiency (written and spoken) is mandatory; Bahasa Malaysia acceptable.
• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL. B) is required; UK/Malaysia-accredited preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in legal/compliance/risk management preferred; in-house/foreign exposure advantageous.
• Experience in fintech or technology sectors is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and amending commercial agreements and legal documents to ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Support compliance of business activities with licenses and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in managing contractual, commercial, and litigation matters involving external group companies and legal counsel.
• Conduct legal research and risk assessments under supervision, preparing reports.
• Maintain and update internal SOPs, policies, and governance frameworks for consistency and compliance.
• Prepare bilingual Executive Memoranda, risk assessment reports, and legal opinions for managers and teams.
• Communicate with regulatory authorities, consultants, or public bodies, including meeting notes and progress tracking.
• Provide legal support in cross-departmental projects ensuring compliance and documentation accuracy.
• Monitor and summarize new laws/regulations relevant to company operations for internal reference.
• Prepare legal reports and maintain documentation for internal record-keeping.
• Balance business needs with legal/compliance considerations in decision-making.
• Assist with litigation documentation and rights enforcement matters.
• Support cross-border legal tasks for Malaysia and overseas operations and participate in governance work.
