Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Java Engineer (Full Stack) to build backend services in Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot and frontend in Angular or React. You will own features end-to-end from the database to the user interface and help less experienced engineers grow.

You will also refactor and upgrade systems, such as Java-to-Kotlin or AngularJS-to-Angular migrations. The work happens in Scrum or Kanban teams across countries.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java (or Kotlin) with Spring Boot.
• Frontend depth with Angular or React (HTML5/CSS3/JS/TS) judged case by case.
• Understanding of microservices, REST APIs and event-driven design.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging; cloud and containerization.
• Azure or AWS with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and CI/CD for production.
• Experience monitoring apps, troubleshooting incidents and root causes.
• Databases: Postgres, MongoDB, or CosmosDB.
• Clean, secure code and testing with JUnit, Mockito, Jest or Cypress.
• Git-based workflows and Scrum or Kanban; clear English communication.
• Right to work in Malaysia (visa sponsorship not available).
• Nice to have Java-to-Kotlin or AngularJS-to-Angular migrations.
• UI frameworks: Material UI, Native UI or TailwindCSS.
• Terraform and IaC tooling; TDD.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java (or Kotlin) with Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience with Angular or React with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3; frontend depth judged case by case
• Understanding of microservices, REST API and event-driven design
• Working knowledge of Apache Kafka or other solutions, including asynchronous messaging, event processing and reliable message delivery
• Experience witth Azure or AWS with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and CI/CD pipelines for production deployments
• Track record monitoring applications, troubleshooting incidents and tracing root causes
• Experience with Postgres, MongoDB or CosmosDB
• Clean, testable, secure code using JUnit, Mockito, Jest or Cypress
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and Scrum or Kanban, plus clear English communication
• Right to work in Malaysia (visa sponsorship is not available)
• Nice to have Java-to-Kotlin or AngularJS-to-Angular migration experience
• UI frameworks such as Material UI, Native UI or TailwindCSS
