Job summary

EPAM Systems in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Java Developer to build, support and modernize services powering our awards and bonus configuration platform.

You will own delivery from design through release, design REST APIs and microservices, and collaborate with business and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust software.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java with recent versions.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Strong REST API design and microservices experience.
• Relational database SQL experience.
• Experience with unit testing (JUnit/Mockito).
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Excellent English communication and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance Java services supporting scheduled awards and bonus configuration capabilities
• Own delivery across the software development life cycle from design through release and support
• Design, implement and document REST APIs and microservices aligned to modernization goals
• Improve code quality through unit tests, refactoring and pragmatic technical debt reduction
• Collaborate with business and engineering partners to translate requirements into working software
• Partner with DevOps engineers to support deployment, deploy and maintain the application
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause fixes to improve stability and performance

Requirements

• Java expertise, including hands‑on work with modern Java versions
• Spring Framework and Spring Boot capability for building scalable services
• Microservices architecture and REST API design experience
• SQL skills and confidence working with relational databases
• Background in unit testing with JUnit and Mockito
• Comfort working in Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments
• Clear communication in English with confidence in spoken discussions
• Ownership mindset with strong problem-solving and follow-through
• Nice to have Exposure to Apache Kafka and AWS
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
