Job summary

Renesas is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to drive productivity across our Penang back-end test operations. You will own test floor performance, equipment effectiveness, shop floor layout, and factory automation initiatives across the PZ3 and KD test floors.

The Senior Industrial Engineer acts as the analytical owner of test floor performance, balancing day-to-day floor support with capacity planning, layout roadmaps, and automation projects while interfacing with Production,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8+ years of experience in semiconductor backend test manufacturing with IE/ME responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience with OEE analysis, capacity/UPH studies, and floor layout or process optimization.
• Experience supporting or leading automation initiatives on a production floor.
• Strong data analysis skills (Excel required; SQL, Minitab, or similar tools a plus).
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related methodologies.
• Familiarity with semiconductor test equipment and MES/data systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze test output entitlement versus actual performance and drive improvement plans.
• Track OEE against target, perform root-cause gap analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Lead test floor layout optimization to improve material flow and floor efficiency.
• Design and optimize shop floor layout, including material mobility tools and WIP staging areas.
• Support daily shop floor planning and optimization with Production and Planning teams.
• Conduct regular audits of device UPH to validate test time accuracy.
• Identify and implement factory improvement opportunities across man and machine utilization.
• Drive factory automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention and improve throughput.
• Support ISO and other audits with data, documentation, and process evidence.
• Lead benchmarking to harmonize test floor practices and KPIs across sites.
• Support production expansion planning, including capacity modeling and line qualification.
• Coordinate equipment movement with minimal production disruption.
• Own asset tracking and lifecycle management for test equipment.
• Partner with Equipment, Quality, Planning, and Production to resolve floor-level issues.
• Present performance data and improvement proposals to management.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians on IE methods.
