Job summary

UEM Edgenta Bhd in Sabah, Malaysia, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead highway project planning, design, and on-site supervision. You will ensure compliance with drawings, specs, quality standards and contractual requirements while coordinating with contractors, consultants, landowners and authorities.

The role requires a PE registration with BEM and a track record of delivering complex roadworks projects. You will drive safety, quality, and timely reporting across the project team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years total experience, or 12 years in roadworks/highway construction.
• Proven highway/roadworks construction and site supervision experience.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Strong technical, project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Ability to lead site teams and manage complex construction activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in planning, design and construction supervision of highway works to ensure smooth delivery and compliance with requirements.
• Monitor site activities to ensure works are carried out per approved drawings, specs, quality standards and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate with Work Package Contractors, consultants, SOR, project teams, landowners and authorities on technical and project matters.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to the site team for effective coordination among consultants, contractors and project personnel.
• Review and provide input on method statements, material submissions, shop drawings, design changes and contractor submissions.
• Monitor quality, HSSE and construction compliance; review QA plans, HSSE docs, traffic management plans and incident reports; issue NCRs or stop-work as needed.
• Monitor project progress against the approved schedule and propose mitigation measures if delays occur.
• Verify completed works and assist in evaluating contractor progress claims with QS and SOR on work done and interim claims.
• Prepare and maintain project reports, site records, progress updates and site diaries for timely reporting to the Project Manager.
• Provide recommendations and technical support for Variation Orders, design changes, project completion certificates and acceptance of as-built drawings.
