Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia seeks a Finance Assistant Manager (GL Reporting) to lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing, review GL accounts and ensure accurate reporting. Manage variances, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany activity while strengthening internal controls.

Strong accounting background and 5 years of experience are required. The role collaborates with auditors and ERP/automation initiatives, supporting operations and other finance functions to drive efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• Professional accountancy qualification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in GL, month-end closing, and financial reporting.
• Senior/supervisory/lead capacity preferred.
• Experience in retail, healthcare, FMCG or multi-outlet environment would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly and year-end closing process.
• Review General Ledger accounts and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported.
• Review monthly P&L and balance sheet movements and investigate variances.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve long-outstanding items.
• Review accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed assets, CAPEX and other schedules.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and prepare audit schedules.
• Follow up on audit findings and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial records.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies and tax regulations.
• Collaborate with AP, AR, Inventory and other finance functions for accurate recording.
• Support ERP enhancements, finance automation and digitalisation initiatives.
• Supervise and review the work of finance team members and manage month-end timelines.
• Provide guidance on accounting, reconciliation and reporting matters.
• Work with Operations and other departments to drive process improvements.
